The Certified Bookkeeper Program offered by ICB Philippines, in partnership with the National Institute of Accounting Technicians (NIAT), equips participants with practical, globally aligned bookkeeping knowledge. Designed for aspiring professionals and working bookkeepers, this program builds the core competencies necessary for accurate, ethical, and efficient financial recordkeeping in real-world settings.

Module Overview:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Bookkeeping

  • Principles of double-entry accounting
  • Recording sales and purchase transactions
  • Understanding service vs. merchandising businesses
  • Preparing trial balances and chart of accounts

Module 2: Completing the Accounting Cycle

  • Adjusting and closing journal entries
  • Preparing income statements and balance sheets
  • Bank reconciliation procedures
  • Use of worksheets and post-closing trial balances

Module 3: Constructive Accounting Techniques

  • Internal controls, especially for cash handling
  • Converting single-entry to double-entry systems
  • Handling incomplete records and correcting errors
  • Financial statement analysis and interpretation

Module 4: Special Journals and Control Systems

  • Recording using special journals (sales, cash receipts/payments, purchases)
  • Applying voucher systems and check registers
  • Processing expenditures in service businesses

Module 5: Comprehensive Review

  • Integrated assessment and practical application of all topics
  • Final review to prepare for the certification exam
